Principal's message archive - Spring 2013

Dear Buist Academy Family,

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing holiday season and that the break gave each of you the opportunity to enjoy your friends and family. January is always about fresh beginnings and positive changes. I love the promise of the New Year and all the possibilities that exist for our children here at Buist Academy.
As I walk the halls, it is hard to believe that we are halfway through the year. We have almost reached the conclusion of the first semester. I continue to be impressed with the extremely high level of teaching and learning that occurs at our school. Faculty and support staff are meeting the needs of our students and extending their learning through the International Baccalaureate program.
We were very happy to welcome Dr. McGinley to Buist on January 3. It was a very good meeting that focused on the new school and our upcoming move. I am happy to report that we are still on schedule to start the 2013-2014 school year at 103 Calhoun Street! We are so excited; most of us have never worked in an entirely new school building. We can’’t wait for the opportunity to educate students in a new state-of-the-art facility.
These past three years in our temporary location have taught us that a great school is not about the location or the building. It is about teaching, loving, supporting and nurturing students. Buist Academy is made up of an amazing community of people. Thanks to everyone for your support throughout this journey.
I would like to end with a quote from John F. Kennedy, “"Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.”" I truly look forward to an amazing future for Buist Academy, filled with growth and excellence.
